Multi-Phase Extraction

Multi-phase extraction (also known as dual-phase extraction, vacuum-enhanced extraction, or sometimes bioslurping) uses high vacuum blowers and/or pumps to remove various combinations of contaminated groundwater, separate-phase free product, and vapors from the subsurface. Extracted liquids and vapor are treated and collected for disposal, or re-injected to the subsurface (where permissible under applicable laws). Multi-phase extraction is an effective tool for removing groundwater and/or product and soil gas from the dewatered zone. This technology can be particularly effective in areas with tight geologic formations and/or to enhance performance of other remedial systems. Several methods are available, such as use of high vacuum blowers or dual pump systems to maximize groundwater, product and/or soil gas extraction. next
