Job Description:

Progressive seeks a Project Geologist with environmental investigation and assessment experience.  The candidate must be a team-oriented individual capable of managing multiple projects and working with other team members on a wide range of sites in Florida and throughout the United States.  Geologist responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Coordination/review/performance of environmental site assessments including groundwater, soil, surface water and air/vapor sample collection
  • Coordination/review/performance of pilot studies, field testing, O&M of remedial systems, operational data collection, remedial system startup
  • Data compilation, evaluation, database management and data validation
  • Planning, performing, and overseeing aquifer testing and hydrologic evaluations
  • Conduct/oversee water, soil and other environmental media sampling
  • Preparation of proposals, reports, work plans, letters and presentation materials
  • Management of subcontractors including bid solicitation, evaluation, contracting and scheduling
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection activities
  • Project management, communication/meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Oversee field staff; provide mentoring and training to junior staff
  • Advise other project managers on geologic/hydrologic issues

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, or other geological science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental consulting field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with a wide variety of field and investigation technologies
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (with required refresher course certification)
  • Knowledge of FDEP and CERCLA regulations and policies
  • Experience with hydrologic/groundwater modeling software (Surfer, MT3DMS, MODFLOW, AQTESOLV)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS/ArcView, RockWorks, or other geological database software
  • Ability to travel up to 25% on an annual basis, ranging from overnight to possible extended stays
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Additional Preferences (not requirements):

  • Florida Professional Geologist license or ability to acquire license within 1 year
  • Masters degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, or other geological science
